Their Story...

Aric:

I cannot believe I get to marry Rachel and start our lives together. I’m so thankful for her and for Remnant Fellowship Church and all the support and love we have been shown.

My testimony starts when my mom, Rhonna Rickman, joined Weigh Down when I was very young. Through those classes, she learned about Remnant Fellowship Church. I remember visiting the church in Tennessee when I was very little and having a blast with all my new friends. My family moved from Minnesota to be closer to the church when I was 6 years old, so I have been a part of Remnant for practically all of my life. Once we moved down and were settled in, I remember making strong connections with some of the same friends who now, so many years later, will be in my upcoming wedding.

I always knew that whoever I dated, I wanted to date that person with the goal of marriage. Within the first few months of dating Rachel, I knew I could spend my life with her. Her work ethic, happy attitude, and love for God and everything He created made me fall in love with her quickly. - Aric

For most of my childhood, I didn’t stand out in school as being a perfect child by any means. As I grew older, my relationship with God and my religious beliefs became stronger. At Remnant Fellowship, we have Confirmation at the age of 13, much like other religions. That point in my life, Confirmation, was really the first time I felt a part of something greater than myself and the first time I really began contemplating the afterlife. This is when my own personal relationship with God, separate from my parents’ relationship, really started.

Fast-forward a couple of years and I met Rachel Wolgemuth at church. We started getting to know each other and went on our first few dates. I always knew that whoever I dated, I wanted to date that person with the goal of marriage. Within the first few months of dating Rachel, I knew I could spend my life with her. Her work ethic, happy attitude, and love for God and everything He created made me fall in love with her quickly. Even though I never talked about marriage with her during our first few years together, I couldn’t imagine not spending my life with her.

Rachel and I dated for three years throughout college. My college years are when I experienced my most spiritual strengthening. Attending college at Middle Tennessee State University, I was exposed to many different beliefs and religions. I love learning about other religions and strengthening my own beliefs. I decided through this time that living a sin-free life and growing my relationship with God is my priority. I am so grateful for learning the truth from our church, based on foundational beliefs from the Bible. Rachel and I are unified in this, and I can’t wait to spend my life with her as we strive to reach these goals!

Rachel:

I was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. My mom was a member of Remnant Fellowship Church when I was a young child, and I feel like I’ve known about Remnant my whole life. In 2015, we visited Tennessee, and I was able to attend Remnant Summer Day Camp, and it really affected my heart, because I was amazed at all the love and kindness and acceptance shown to me by the fellow campers and camp counselors! After that, I started really paying attention to the church webcasts at home and could see how much Gwen Lara loved God with ALL her heart and how she shared her passion for the truth as she preached the clear Gospel of Jesus Christ!

I still can’t believe I get to marry the man of my dreams—a man who is Godly, fun, selfless, servant-hearted, and handsome! I fully trust that Aric will lead our household in the right direction because we only want to put God first in all we say and do.- Rachel

I remember not just listening but actually hearing her words: they pierced my heart. I was convicted about how I was living my life – I knew I was spending too much time playing video games and worrying about myself, and I wasn’t being nice to my sister. In 2017, I was excited to move to Tennessee with my mom and sister! I was ready to learn how to have a relationship with God like the one that Mrs. Gwen had, and I wanted to have a heart that would one day make it into Heaven! I also wanted to be surrounded by the best and most loving friends every day!

It was at Day Camp 2019 that I first noticed Aric Rickman. I could tell how fun and full of joy he was. I remember thinking that there was no way Aric would want to get to know me better. Then one night, I was hanging out with a good friend and her mom suggested we drop some homemade cookies off at the Rickmans’ house. We went there and rang the doorbell with our cookies, and guess who opened the door? It was Aric! From that point on, we started to get to know each other by talking at church and youth events. After a couple of weeks, he asked me on our first date. This was December 27th, 2019. I was so nervous. I just couldn’t believe that I was going on a date with Aric Rickman: the sweetest, Godliest, most gentle man I have ever met!

To this day, Aric shows me so much love and is always looking to meet my needs and the needs of others. He never fails to take care of anything I need. He can fix or build anything and is always helping his family and other families in our church. He strives to glorify God in everything he does. I have gotten to learn so much about God, relationships, and how to have a bigger heart during our three years of dating and throughout our engagement. I have grown so much closer to God, learning to truly depend on Him for everything and to follow His lead.

I still can’t believe I get to marry the man of my dreams—a man who is Godly, fun, selfless, servant-hearted, and handsome! I fully trust that Aric will lead our household in the right direction because we only want to put God first in all we say and do. We both fully support Remnant Fellowship Church and the loving and selfless Godly leadership. I am forever grateful for all that Mrs. Gwen and her daughter Elizabeth have taught me and for all their wisdom. I am thankful for what I have learned and continue to learn through the teachings at Remnant Fellowship Church about having a connection with God, the Father, who loves for me to wait on Him to provide all my needs, especially the perfect life-partner! I praise God for Aric, my family, his family, and all of our friends who have helped us get to this point! I cannot wait to see how we can glorify God through our marriage and prove that we love HIM most of all! I cannot wait for June 10th and to be united forever with Aric Rickman, my best friend and perfect match!
