Their Story...

Evan:

First and foremost, I want to thank God, this church body, and my parents for getting me to where I am today. Azucena and I have been able to utilize the many sermons, teachings, and counseling of our peers to prepare us spiritually for our wedding day. We are beyond grateful for all the love that has been shown to us.

My parents joined Remnant Fellowship in 2006. We were living in Illinois at the time, and we would come down to Tennessee for events. When we did so, we had opportunities to stay with several different church members who lovingly opened up their homes to us. After a few years, we had the opportunity to move to Brentwood, Tennessee. Once we lived here locally and were able to have so much fellowship with our church friends, I saw firsthand the blessings of putting God first in every action.

Azucena is one of a kind; she has the most vibrant personality. She loves God first and foremost, and she is uplifting and kind to all those around her. Azucena loves her family and honors and respects her parents. She is always looking for a way to serve and love others. I am so thankful that God brought her into my life. - Evan

While my family was familiar with Azucena’s family, I first really met Azucena on May 14th, 2021 on a trip to Destin we had both taken with friends—exactly two years to the day of our wedding date! Azucena and I clicked immediately, spending the last evening of our trip talking for hours on end. Then on our first date, we ended up talking for hours again.

Our lives have been so blessed, and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for us in the future!

Azucena:

I started visiting the Remnant Fellowship Church with my family when I was 9 years old, when my mom found Gwen Lara’s Rise Above book in a Memphis library and learned about the Biblical teaching and the church. From that day forward, my life changed for the best! My family and I started webcasting with the Remnant group in Memphis before joining the church a year later in 2010. We would visit Nashville at times and attend in person, and on those visits, I was introduced to many other Saints and had many opportunities to visit with families and get to hear their testimonies. In 2013, I was first introduced to the Jackson family, not knowing that years later I would have the opportunity to be related to them!

I remember what caught my attention about Evan was how easy he was to talk to and how comfortable I felt around him. We have learned a lot together and have helped each other grow and become a better people spiritually. I praise God for allowing us to meet in this church that has given us all the tools to grow better together than we are apart.- Azucena

My family was able to move to Nashville in 2018. I started college that fall, and I quickly learned that without God, nothing is possible. The messages Gwen Shamblin Lara has shown us—to go to God, to have no expectations about anything, and most importantly, to be under authority to those God has placed over us—has blessed me beyond what you can imagine.

A few years after, I began getting to know Evan Jackson better. I thank God every day for a handsome, gentle man like Evan! He is nothing but sweet, gentle, the best gift-giver, and most importantly, the most patient person I have ever met. He has taught me to not worry about a thing and trust in God for everything.

Although I was familiar with the Jackson family already, Even and I really met on the last day of a Florida trip we were both invited to. I remember what caught my attention about Evan was how easy he was to talk to and how comfortable I felt around him. Soon after that, we went on our first date. We have learned a lot together and have helped each other grow and become a better people spiritually.

I praise God for allowing us to meet in this church that has given us all the tools to grow better together than we are apart. I can’t wait to marry Evan so we can become even stronger together for many years to come!!
