Robert:
I have been a part of Remnant Fellowship Church since I was a wee lad of 2, and it has been a blessed but humbling journey. Throughout my life, I've had constant encouragement and support from our church's leadership that has kept me on the right path, and I truly owe so much to those who have helped me on my journey. When I entered military service, the foundation that this church helped me lay made my testing in the military much easier to bear. Knowing that whenever I may encounter challenges that seem daunting, I'll have a foundational teaching and an entire church behind my back praying for me makes the challenges seem infinitesimal.
During our time together, I've been able to witness what a kind, patient and dedicated person Karina is. Every moment we spend together feels like a blessing. - Robert
When I first met Karina I was still living in North Carolina and wasn't interested in a long distance relationship, but God had other plans. Although the first time we met, I don’t believe I said more than a sentence to her, she still asked me out for coffee the next day. As we began to spend more time together, my heart softened, and I felt as though I could truly pour out my deepest thoughts and desires, without fear of judgement. As it says in Ezekiel 36, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” Through our journey together, I have started to understand the depth of this scripture, and how true it rings in my life.
After that first date it felt like every moment we spent together the closer and more in love we became. During our time together, I've had the honor of witnessing what a kind, patient and dedicated person Karina is. She volunteers at every church event in so many different ways; on the fireworks team, drinks team, decorating team, cleaning team, dessert team, and in many musical ensembles. Karina is always involved in some sort of music project with the church. She also gives her time in service to the community, often volunteering at a local theater. I recall one of our first dates, she brought me along with her to help clean the theater after the show. In this way, she encourages me to look for ways to shine God’s light in our church body, and in the greater community. No matter how we are serving or what we are doing, I am ecstatic to spend time with her, as we seek the servant-hearted nature of Christ together. Every moment we spend together feels like a blessing.
I am so thankful to God for letting us meet and grow so close together, and the thought of being with Karina until death do we part feels like too little time, but I am grateful for it regardless.

It is an honor and privilege to share a testimony of how the Lord has worked in our lives. I could not speak of my excitement to be marrying Robert Austin Bass without first giving all credit to God Almighty, His Son Jesus Christ, and those who have led and spurred me on in the pursuit of righteousness.
I am in awe of what our God has done in our lives, and literally burst with joy every time I think about the day I will stand next to my love as we commit before God to forever. - Karina
I remember as a little girl desperately wanting to seek out the truth. When I was a child, we attended a church that separated the youth from the adult congregation during the sermon, and I recall begging my parents to let me sit with them so I could hear the sermon. I felt this same desire for closeness to God when my mother began attending the Remnant Fellowship Church in 2016. I remember feeling conviction for the first time in my life as Gwen Shamblin Lara spoke about what it truly means to love. One of my earliest spiritual walks with God was learning that love is an action word, and that it starts in the home first. I vowed to achieve this love, and I can now say without a shadow of a doubt, my siblings are my best friends, and our family unit has never been closer than we are today. It is a blessing to be unified with the people God has put closest to me. It is even more of a blessing to meet new people on your spiritual journey that become dear friends, and it is the biggest blessing to meet the love of your life on that journey too...but more on that later ;)
After much prayer, I moved from the U.K. to the U.S. to start college. During my college years, I had the opportunity to grow closer to three incredibly generous (and hugely impactful) families: the McCauleys, the Straleys, and the Barnharts. During these years, my faith grew significantly. I was surrounded by people who helped me on my walk with Christ and gently encouraged me whenever things were challenging. Moving to be close to those who were seeking to put God first in their lives was the greatest decision of my life, so I thank all the people who supported me.
Upon graduating, I was offered a job immediately after college. And as I began to make a life here in Tennessee, God brought Robert into my life.
If you looked up "dedication" in the dictionary, you would see a picture of Robert. He is the most diligent, hardworking man I have ever met. He will never say no to an opportunity to serve, no matter how hard it is or how much time it takes. He has given up countless hours, dollars, and strength to help out a friend, family, or even a stranger. I have seen his faithfulness from the smallest task to the biggest projects. Robert spends time meticulously learning skills, and puts his learning into practice quickly, then generously teaches other people what he has learned. Robert’s dedication doesn’t stop at physical skills - he is also the most devoted man, consistently showing up for me and my family. He made it his mission from the beginning of our relationship to learn all about my siblings and become best friends with them. The fact that my brother will stand by him as Best Man is a testament to Robert’s dedication to strengthen the bonds that God has provided in bringing our families together.
1 Corinthians 12:12 says, “the body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body.” And later in verses 25 - 27, “...there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” The way that our families have come together to form a unit within the Kingdom of God has been evidence of this scripture in action. I didn’t know how much I needed Robert in my life until I looked back and saw the abundance of blessings that have been poured out since we met. I didn’t know how much I would learn from Robie and Donna Bass about how to unite a family in Christ and persevere through suffering. I didn’t know how much I would value Annabelle Bass’ help in bringing Robert and I together. I didn’t know how much I would need Becca (Bass) Hagans’ wisdom in becoming a wife. I didn’t know how much I would treasure having grandparents Nonnie and Grad so close in my life. And nobody could have prepared me for the immense gift of music that God bestowed upon our families. “I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live” - Psalm 104:33. Together, we form just one microcosm of God’s plan, but I have now tasted what Heavenly unity is like.
