Their Story...

Lane:

When I was growing up in Georgia, I remembered attending a variety of different churches with my family, but I was not attending to achieve a relationship with God but only because my parents wanted me to. Anytime I went into a church, I felt like I wanted to be somewhere else. I was living a life all about myself and what I wanted. Every breathing moment was about me and indulging in what I wanted to do that day. Then, in 2014, my dad, Tom Jeter, found out about Remnant Fellowship Church, and he realized it was a place that truly put God first above all else, and I am so grateful to him for leading our family to join Remnant! He led our family in connecting with other church members in Georgia, and we would travel to join them in worship assemblies when we could. Soon after joining, we had the opportunity to attend our first Passover and Resurrection gathering in person in Tennessee. At this point, I was still very self-focused, but I had a great time and could tell that this place was different than other churches from my past.

Alyssa continually helps me keep my focus on God and encourages me to keep strengthening that relationship. I could not have asked for a better supporter than Alyssa. I am so thankful to God for our beautiful relationship and pray to glorify Him in everything we do together in our marriage! - Lane

Once I got to my high school years, I was heading down a path of being anti-social with deeper self-focus, anxiety, and depression. Even with us webcasting at home and attending festivals in person, my heart was still so stubborn. In 2017, my dad became close with Dawn Phelps, another church member, and before long, they got married! Dawn is a selfless example of someone in love with God; she moved from Nashville to join us in Georgia while my brother and I finished school, and she helped our family through some difficult times. I am so grateful to both my dad and Dawn for walking out these hard, life-altering steps to help our whole family grow a closer relationship with God!

In 2019, we had the opportunity to move to Nashville to be closer to church and other church members. At this point, I got to attend my first summer day camp as a Junior Counselor, and my heart really began to soften. Seeing everyone from old to young give their all for God was life-changing, and I quickly started putting the Biblical message taught by Gwen Shamblin Lara into practice – changing from having a life all about me to a life all about God! This teaching continues to be carried on by Elizabeth Kauffman, and I continue to grow closer to God every day!

In 2022, after experiencing so much fruit in my life once I started putting God first, I was able to meet Alyssa through some mutual friends. This friendship was monumental for my relationship with God and those around me as well, because Alyssa really helped me emerge from my shell of being introverted, a characteristic I had since high school. When Alyssa and I talked for the first time, we instantly felt a connection! I could talk to her for hours, and it felt as natural as breathing. We bonded over our passions for God, sports, each other’s fun quirks, and our profound ways of storytelling. Laughing with each other as we grew to love one another.

As we grew closer, there were many tests and obstacles in our path, but with Alyssa’s selfless support and her heart to serve and encourage, she made every test turn into a dream come true. She continually helps me keep my focus on God and encourages me to keep strengthening that relationship. I could not have asked for a better supporter than Alyssa. These past few years I’ve known her are easily the best years of my life, and it’s all glory to God and the teachings at Remnant Fellowship Church! I am so thankful to God for our beautiful relationship and pray to glorify Him in everything we do together in our marriage!

Alyssa:

My testimony begins in 2008 when my mom learned about Weigh Down through a Good Housekeeping magazine in Omaha, Nebraska. My parents had always raised my sister and me with the foundation of trying to do the right thing, being unified, and respecting those above us and each other. The Weigh Down program helped them build on those Christian principles by connecting it to having a relationship with God. Shortly after reading about Weigh Down and losing weight through that ministry, my mom found out about Remnant Fellowship Church!

Watching Lane be so selfless and humble throughout our relationship has convicted me so much, and he is always encouraging me to grow my relationship with God! I am truly so undeserving of Lane and am so excited to get married this summer!- Alyssa

We soon became members of Remnant, and the teachings continued to bless our family. Between 2008 and 2016, we visited Tennessee a few times a year for Passover, Summer Day Camp, and Feast of Harvest. Every time we would travel to Tennessee, it was such a blessed time and such a recharge getting to connect with everyone in person before we went back home to Nebraska. I am truly so grateful for this church and the foundation that was laid many years ago so that our family out in the Midwest, many miles away from Brentwood, could find this teaching and start developing our own personal relationships with God.

As I entered high school, I did not do as good a job as I could have of seeking out God and this relationship, and I started to feel distant from Him. At the end of my senior year in 2016, I came to a crossroads moment where I really had to look at my life and the direction I was taking, comparing it to others I knew. When I thought about all my friends at church in Tennessee, everyone had a real purpose, looking to God for everything, and they seemed to have a real internal drive about what they wanted to do and who they were deep inside. With this realization, I made the choice to move down to Tennessee, and during that first year of living here, God grew and stretched me so much in so many beautiful ways! Since moving here, my life and my heart have truly done a 180, and I am so grateful for our amazing church and the leadership here. They have offered the best Bible-based wisdom on how to discover our God-given gifts and how to find our true purpose and direction in life as we all strive to continue to grow our relationship with God.

One of my many answered prayers happened in May of 2022, when God blessed me incredibly with meeting Lane Jeter for the first time! We met through some of our best friends at church, and truly, from day one, Lane has been nothing short of amazing! From our first date at Barnes & Noble, Lane has always been humble, kind, gentle, and so selfless. If he is navigating something difficult, he always seeks Godly wisdom from our parents and from people he respects. He is truly the most humble man I know and is never prideful about anything (even the many things he is good at!). Lane always points any gift he has right back up to God. He is such a servant and volunteers on several ministries at our church, as well as helping his parents and my parents with any needs they have. I truly cannot believe I get the honor of marrying such an incredible man! Whenever I’m going through any testing, Lane is so quick to pray with me, point me to the perfect scripture to read, or suggest watching a sermon from Gwen Lara or Elizabeth Kaufmann that can help me overcome whatever it is I’m going through. Watching him be so selfless and humble throughout our relationship has convicted me so much, and he is always encouraging me to grow my relationship with God! I am truly so undeserving of Lane and am so excited to get married this summer!
