Their Story...
Dominic:
I am praising God for this incredible life He has given me—one filled with lifelong friendships, incredible conviction, and an unfathomable love relationship with the Lord God Almighty. To give credit where credit is due, I am so grateful and thankful to Gwen Shamblin Lara for stepping out of the world, following God’s lead in everything, and starting Remnant Fellowship Church in 1999. I literally would not be alive today if it were not for the message taught from this place every week and for the countless righteous individuals who established this church to be holy and set apart for God.
Anna’s love, kindness, and beauty are boundless. She selflessly serves the church and the church members, and everyone who knows her can testify that her joy is contagious. Along with all these beautiful and wonderful traits, Anna has a steadfastness for God and His church that convicts me daily. I fall in love with her all over again every day. - Dominic
I have had the incredible honor to be born and raised under this teaching of imitating Jesus Christ and his words to The Father: “not my will but yours be done.” This honor I do not take lightly. I am very grateful to my parents, Matt and Monica Weaver, for joining this church, living out what is taught here, establishing their family here, and guiding my siblings and me in how to live upright lives before God. I will never take for granted the truth spoken here and the simple yet profound wisdom of how to be an upright, Christlike man so the future generations of this church can remain pure and holy; our prayer is that this church will be around until Jesus comes back.
Around the age of fourteen, I started to make major changes with my relationship with God. That year, a handful of youth (which quickly grew into a packed sanctuary full) started meeting Monday nights to watch The History of the One True God class series. I watched the way Mrs. Gwen talked about her relationship with God within the lessons and realized, up until that point, my relationship with God had been stale and rote. From the moment the class started, I was convicted to change. I started experimenting and putting into practice little things such as praying for joy, talking to God throughout the day, and checking in more with my parents. What came with that was a fantastic inexpressible joy that spurred me on to change more! Over the years that followed, not only did God give back with blessings beyond my wildest imaginings, He also gave back with the biggest answered prayer I could have ever hoped for in Anna Purdy.
I met Anna for the first time when we were both ten years old. The Purdy family had recently moved from Indiana to be closer to the church and the like-minded families here. My family—the Weavers—and the Purdy family quickly became close friends and would hang out along with other families frequently. As I grew older, I not only noticed Anna’s physical beauty, but her spiritual beauty as well. The way she would conduct herself around her siblings, the honor and respect she would show to her parents, the way she would describe her answered prayers and relationship with God to her friends—all this convicted me and drew me to her. As we have been taught in this message, righteousness is attractive, and Anna’s righteousness was beyond anything I had ever seen before.
We began getting to know one another more and eventually started dating. I am blown away that God has allowed us to be together for four years now, and in that time, we have both encouraged and convicted one another to keep furthering our relationships with God. I am even more blown away that I get to marry Anna and that we will get to spend the rest of our lives strengthening one another spiritually and growing in our walk with God together!
Over the years, my love for Anna has only grown. Her love, kindness, and beauty are boundless. She selflessly serves the church and the church members, and everyone who knows her can testify that her joy is contagious. Along with all these beautiful and wonderful traits, Anna has a steadfastness for God and His church that convicts me daily. She is the embodiment of the wife of noble character in Proverbs 31, to the point that I do not consider myself worthy of having her as my best friend for life. I fall in love with her all over again every day.
I praise God for creating my perfect match in Anna. I’m so grateful for what we’ have both been taught from Remnant Fellowship and for the countless examples of Godly, righteous couples we can imitate. God is in the center of our relationship and will continue to be as we move forward in this next stage of life and continue to uphold one another in love and unity. I have never been more excited for what the future holds!
Anna:
I want to start off by saying that my gratitude and appreciation for Remnant Fellowship Church, Gwen Shamblin Lara, Elizabeth Hannah Kaufmann, all of our amazing Leaders, and my parents is abundant and overflowing. I would not be here today if Gwen and Elizabeth had not laid down their entire lives for this church, and I would definitely not be here if my parents had not listened to these words of Truth, put them into practice, and moved our family here to be closer to the church and the families here. I am incredibly humbled and honored that God would have blessed my life in such an incredible way, and I am so grateful for everyone who has influenced me in such a positive way. I would not be anywhere near where I am today spiritually, mentally, physically, or academically without all these amazing saints and their examples of a wholehearted lifestyle of loving God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Dominic is the very definition of a Christian man, constantly looking inward and seeking God’s direction. There are almost no words to describe how amazing, selfless, humble, and righteous Dominic is. I cannot believe God would bless my life in such amazing way as to bring such a handsome, upright, creative, humble man into my life.- Anna
My mother started taking Weigh Down classes in 2011, and soon after hearing these words and learning about the Remnant Fellowship Church, she introduced this teaching to my dad, and they both loved it. They quickly put this message into practice and their lives started bearing fruit immediately! Our family became members of Remnant Fellowship in the summer of 2013. Even though I was seven years old when we joined, I could see my parents’ lives changing for the better. There was peace and joy in the home, rather than pride or anger. I distinctly remember as a child having a pattern of anger and rage against my parents and siblings, but once my parents started listening to the Biblical teaching of this church and guiding me and helping me change to be more like Jesus Christ, I remember changing and reaching out to God for help. As a result, I had so much peace and fun as a little girl, constantly finding blessings and answered prayers from putting this teaching into practice. I remember getting my first answered prayers and feeling that inexpressible joy of having a relationship with God!
Our parents moved us to Tennessee in November of 2015, and it was the most joyous time ever. I could clearly see the blessings, the answered prayers, and all the peace and love that surrounded us as we moved here and got even more into the middle of the pack of this incredible Remnant family, and I will always be so very grateful for my parents moving us here. From the festivals, weddings, Remnant Fellowship Day Camp, parties, concerts, youth nights, and regular Sabbath and Wednesday services, there is so much fun and so many opportunities for truth, fellowship, and serving the church, and I am incredibly grateful! Each event has helped me grow closer to the other members and especially helped me grow closer to God, as I have been able to witness so many blessings and so many answered prayers within this Church! The righteous examples that I have in my life are amazing and I am so grateful. I can truly say that my relationship with God has only grown within this church, and my joy and happiness grow daily as I get to walk through this life of putting God first before myself. My parents have been awesome examples to me of how to be a humble servant who can lead with love and compassion. There is so much good fruit in their lives, and I have been blessed getting to learn from them as they learn from Gwen, Elizabeth, and the other leaders!
I am so appreciative for the abundant fruit and many blessings in my life, and every blessing builds my appreciation for God. The biggest blessing and biggest answered prayer of all has been meeting and becoming best friends with my soon-to-be husband, Dominic Weaver. When I was younger, I would pray that I could one day marry someone who loved God first, who was a servant for God’s Kingdom and Church, and who was fully devoted to God and His Saints. I cannot believe God let me become friends with and start dating such a Godly man, who is all those things that I desired wrapped up into one! Dominic is an incredibly humble leader and servant for God’s Kingdom, and that is one of the biggest reasons why I love him so much.
Dominic is incredible in absolutely every way. He not only works hard at his job, at his education, and at looking inward and changing himself, but he also works diligently to make sure that God’s Kingdom is taken care of. Dominic is the very definition of a Christian man, constantly looking inward and seeking God’s direction. He is so gentle and always ensures that my every need is met, and he is always looking to help out his friends and make their days brighter. His constant focus on God is convicting. There are almost no words to describe how amazing, selfless, humble, and righteous Dominic is. His every action proves his desire to put God first and put others before himself. Not only is Dominic so focused on God, but he is absolutely hilarious and makes me laugh way too hard almost every day! He has no self-focus and makes every interaction he has fun and uplifting. I cannot believe God would bless my life in such amazing way as to bring such a handsome, upright, creative, humble man into my life.
Dominic’s parents, Matt and Monica Weaver, are wonderful examples of selfless and Godly people, and I know that is where Dominic gets his selfless and humble attributes. Dominic’s family members are all amazing examples of leading a pure and righteous life before God Almighty; they are such an inspiration to me! I am excited that our families get to join together as Dominic and I get married, and the unity and peace between both our families is crystal clear. I know that together our families will be stronger for God than ever before, and that is a huge blessing!
I am so incredibly honored that I get to marry such a wonderful man. I am so grateful and overflowing with appreciation and respect for God’s decisions and His incredible blessings and answered prayers. Never in another universe would I have been able to imagine having such an incredible life, getting to marry the absolute man of my dreams, within this amazing Church that has taught me the Truth to put God first and put others before me. I am so grateful for this entire body of believers, as they have helped me so much and are amazing examples of living Christlike lives. I will forever be appreciative for this church’s leadership, Gwen, Elizabeth, and my parents for working so hard to create this environment and community of love and Christlike respect. I am so excited for this next chapter in my life, and I am so excited to walk it out with my dearest Dominic!
