Their Story...

Stephen:

I am so incredibly thankful to be able to share my testimony. God has blessed me in so many ways over the past few years. From meeting Melissa Parsons, to moving to Williamson County, to joining Remnant Fellowship church, to now coming up on marrying the most amazing person I’ve ever met, these last few years seem to have been God guiding me step-by-step along the way.

I am so excited about the opportunity to spend the rest of my life with Melissa and working together to put God first in everything we do. - Stephen

It feels like at least once a day, either Melissa or I say, “Wow, look at this amazing life we get to live.” There aren’t enough words to describe our gratitude for all the blessings we’ve been given.

Through all of this, my faith has grown stronger than I ever imagined. I’m so thankful for the way God has worked in my life and for the constant reminders of His love and faithfulness.

Over the last few months, Melissa and I have been in the process of purchasing our first home together. Obviously, this can be a stressful process, and we certainly had those moments, but the way God just kept letting everything fall into place perfectly for us was incredible, humbling, and convicting.

The teaching at this church, along with Melissa and our amazing friends, has helped my relationship with God grow even more than I ever thought possible. I am so excited about the opportunity to spend the rest of my life with Melissa and working together to put God first in everything we do.

Melissa:

First off, I can’t believe the amazing life I’ve been blessed with and the opportunity to share my testimony! I thank God first and foremost, and then Gwen Shamblin Lara, who shared how to have a personal relationship with God, and her amazing daughter Elizabeth, who is continuing to carry that message forward. They have both been instrumental in my life and helping me find my own relationship with God!

I truly cannot believe that God is letting me marry the most Godly, sweet, patient, loving, protective, smart, outgoing, handsome man… above and beyond anything I could have prayed for!- Melissa

It all started with my incredible mom taking Weigh Down in the 90s and then joining Remnant Fellowship Church in 2001. Even living in Canada, she always made it a priority to get us down to Tennessee to be around others — which led to beautiful friendships I’ve had since childhood. She is simply amazing. I will always appreciate and thank her for making God first in our lives! Even to this day, we call each other and start each day off with a prayer. A single mother of six, she is the most selfless person I know, and as I get older, my appreciation for her has grown more and more each year.

A pivotal time in my life and my relationship with God was in 2015 when I started college. To this day, I truly cannot fathom how anyone gets through life — and especially college — without prayer! The answered prayers and faith-building situations are too many to count. Another huge blessing was the opportunity to grow very close to Jonathan and Jessica Walters and their sweet children, and my memories of their family are priceless. Beyond their humor and fun, they were some of the most Godly people I got to witness, living an upright life day-in and day-out. I was able to watch how amazing a Godly marriage and household could be and was moved by the love they showed for their children. I began to realize I desired to have that type of home in my future, and I began praying for a Godly man to marry.

A few years later, God answered my heartfelt prayer when I met Stephen! I would say our dating season was also a major turning point for my relationship with God. It was so amazing to become more deeply rooted in what I believe, what I treasure, and what I love most — and then share that with Stephen. I could not have done it without another special family in my life, the dearest Chase and Abby McDonald family, who have helped me in so many areas. The McDonalds have shown me love and care as if I were one of their own, and they also have given me countless hours of Godly wisdom that I will never be able to repay! I truly would not be where I am today without my amazing church, my mom, and these two amazing families.

Now onto Stephen — I truly cannot believe that God is letting me marry the most Godly, sweet, patient, loving, protective, smart, outgoing, handsome man… above and beyond anything I could have prayed for! One of my favorite things we do together is seek God together in prayer. Stephen is so selfless, he is constantly praying for others, and it has been amazing to pray together and see so many prayers answered in our own lives. Stephen is my best friend, and we live the most blessed lives. We tell each other at least once a day how we can’t believe all we’ve been given, and we pray we never take any of it for granted!
